London Design Studio launch during Clerkenwell Design Week 2017
May 2017 sees us open the doors to our new London Design Studio at 111 Charterhouse Street, Clerkenwell.
We’ve had a showroom presence in London since 1998. The expiry of the lease in Great Portland Street provided the impetus for both a move to the undisputed design centre of London in Clerkenwell, and the re-imagining of our showroom into a creative and collaborative design space showcasing our capabilities to furniture dealers, contract furniture specifiers, architects, commercial interior designers and their clients.
The new London Design Studio is base for our design team, with the space itself designed to inspire and enthuse, and give access to a reference library of finishes and materials, all within a stimulating yet relaxing creative environment.
The London Design Studio is conveniently located just four minutes’ walk from Farringdon station, and directly adjacent to the eastern entrance to the new Crossrail station (opening December 2018). Alternatively – for those with a taste for late night music – it is 140 metres east of Fabric.
Our Managing Director, William O’Brien, says: “Advances in technology, changes in working practices and in individual working styles mean that the office has changed dramatically over the past few years: and so has Sven. The time is right to firmly position ourselves in London’s most creative quarter.
“In one nostalgic sense, we’re taking a stroll down memory lane. In the very early days of our business, more than 40 years ago, we travelled to London regularly to buy all our waxes and French polishes from a supplier in Clerkenwell – at a time when no-one questioned the wisdom of processing huge vats of highly inflammable liquids in the very heart of London!”
Stay tuned for more news on our London Design Studio and the unveiling of exciting new additions to our product portfolio in the lead up to Clerkenwell Design Week 2017.
